Why Cambodia
The Problem
During the Khmer Rouge Regime, Cambodia endured systematic and massive human rights violations, which included executions, starvation, and slave labor. One-fifth of the population died.
In the four years from 1975-1979 the Khmer Rouge ruled Cambodia, it was responsible for one of the worst mass killings of the 20th Century, killing up to 2 million people.
Pol Pot, the Khmer Rouge leader tried to eradicate any one with an education.
Whole families died from execution, starvation, disease and overwork.
